Skincare Step Up - Lancome Visionnaire LR2412

Its no secret that I love Lancome skincare.  I tend to try out different brands but always come back to Lamcome creams and cleansers.  Recently I've started to notice small changes in my skin (i'm approaching 28) and thought it was time to start investing in some anti-aging products.  To be honest my heart sank a little when I realised it was time but prevention is better than cure and there's no way I'm going to inject poison into my face so it's time to a new skincare regime.

Lancome Visionnaire
I've been using a Clarins eye cream for a little while now but it's more for puffiness and bags (I suffer from this a lot)  I will post about this stuff soon, it's incredible.  What I was looking for was either an anti-aging moisturiser or a youth serum.  After a lovely, relaxing facial on the Lancome stand at my local Debenhams I came home with Visionnaire and within an hour I was in love.

I'd heard a lot about this product but I'd never tried it before.  It claims to reduce wrinkles, even skin tone and reduce pores.  Women went crazy for it back in September, queing up and pre-paying in their thousands, Lancome said the customers response was 'staggering', 'never had we had such an important technological breakthrough'... I'm starting to see why.

There's a lot of science talk about this product but the basics are that it contains LR2412, a new beauty molecule developed by Lancome which is as effective as retinoic acid but with none of the side effects (retinoic acid is known to help skins cells grow, repair fine lines and improve skin texture but can have side effects like dryness, rashes and irritation -commonly used to treat acne).

The inspiration behind this was Jasmonic Acid.  A molecule found in plants that triggers the repair process and makes them more resistant.  Lancome's LR2412 molecule mimics this process of repair from deep within, speeding up the renewal process as deep as the dermis.

It also contains serums and light reflecting particles that give your skin an instant glow and work like a primer making your skin perfect for makeup application.

I've only been using it for about a week but already my skin feels incredible, not to mention the smell (if the made it into a perfume I would buy it, it's amazing).  I'm sure I can see a reduction in my pores and my skin has a certain 'glow'.  Not enough time to see a reduction in fine lines yet but I actually have a lot of faith in this product.  I will post about the results in a few months of use.... so far so good!

I also decided to change my moisturiser.  I'd been using Lancome Hydra Zen and Eve Lom for a while on a rotation basis. I find Hydra Zen a little greasy for pre makeup but great for my dry skin when i'm not working.  I like to use Eve Lom for shoot days as it absorbs so quickly but still replenishes my skin really well.

I stuck with Lancome and was recommended Primordial Skin Recharge (all skin types).  It is supposed to tackle first signs of aging, minimise pores and produce more radiant skin.  I have very sensitive dry skin which is why I was a little unsure about buying a moisturiser that wasn't specifically for dry skin but it has worked really well so far.  No irritation at all, easily absorbed, as always a beautiful scent but it has collected and 'rolled' off my skin a couple of times.  I've read some user reviews that are complaining about this, I've never had it happen before.  A little strange as it's absorbing so well, so far a little excess doesn't offend me, this may become an issue.

I was given some samples of Lancome Genifique - youth activating concentrate. A serum designed to slow down or reverse the signs of aging skin.  I've been using it in the mornings as advised but I don't think it's having any major effects.  I think the improvement in my skin is down to the Visionnaire, it always looks and feels better when I apply this product.  I will know when the samples run out I guess.... will let you know if I end up missing it and buying!

I was also given samples of Genifique Yeux but I think i'll be sticking with my Clarins Eye cream.  The genifique moisturised really well but didn't have any effect on my puffiness.  I can literally feel the Clarins product tighten and shrink my bags, it's going to take a lot to beat.

Just remember everyone's skin responds differently to products.  My friend will swear by a cream that will bring me out in a rash.... try and get samples if you can before you commit.

I'd really like to hear from anyone using Visionnaire, what are your thoughts?  Anyone like me embarking on a new skincare regime? What are you using to tackle the first signs of aging?
